Pronouns: She/Her
Sarah’s passion for mental health stems from personal and professional experience with mental illness which provides her with a nuanced perspective on the intricacies of mental health. Her undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology fostered her recognition of racial and systemic mental health disparities and underpins one of Sarah’s primary values as a mental health professional in creating a welcoming and warm environment for all clients regardless of their background, socioeconomic status, and identities. Sarah has experience with conducting workshops for Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre and the Manitoba Mood Disorders Association about her experience with mental health issues, the importance of therapy, and in hopes to impede mental health stigma. She also mentored individuals with eating disorders and comorbid mental health issues which informs her understanding of the various ways in which mental illness manifests and impacts individuals’ lives. Through her early years of being a competitive dancer and currently an avid yogi, Sarah is very passionate holistic approaches towards mental health as she’s witnessed and experienced the deep connection between one’s mind, body, and soul. She recognizes the importance of empowering clients to realize their potential and inner wisdom while supporting them in understanding the interrelation between their thoughts and behaviours. Sarah seeks to gain a deep understanding of her clients’ lived experiences and acknowledges how everyone has a unique approach to life and healing and will work extensively to integrate this understanding into her therapeutic approach.
